How to Get Your Car Ready for Ladakh / Mountains

Planning a road trip to Ladakh? Before you hit those high passes, your car needs to be in top condition. Here's a quick checklist to prepare your vehicle for the mountains.

1. Tyres & Spare
Check tyre condition, pressure, and alignment. Carry at least one full-size spare. Consider all-terrain tyres for better grip on rocky roads.

2. Engine & Oil
Get the engine serviced. Top up or replace engine oil, coolant, and brake fluids. Cold weather can affect engine performance.

3. Brakes & Suspension
Make sure your brakes respond well and suspension is solid – Ladakh roads are rough and unpredictable.

4. Battery & Lights
Test the battery health. Roads can get foggy or dusty, so make sure headlights, fog lamps, and brake lights are working well.

5. Essentials to Carry
– Jerry cans for extra fuel
– Tow rope, tyre inflator, and puncture kit
– Basic tool kit, jump cables, and fuses
– Extra engine oil & coolant
– First aid kit, oxygen can, and water bottles

Bonus Tips
– Prefer high-ground clearance SUVs
– Always check weather & road status
– Drive slow in water crossings and rocky stretches

Prepare well, and Ladakh will reward you with unforgettable views and unmatched adventure.
